Thursday morning presented the rare chance to stroll to work along Greenwich Peninsula. Cutting through the edge of the Eco Park, I found this heron mooching around. We watched each other for a while, and it didn’t seem remotely bothered about me taking my time over some photos. It was an unexpected, very peaceful few minutes.
Worryingly, the Eco Park is under threat: a proposed new development includes a 20 storey tower that would put the park in the shade, thus massively reducing its biodiversity. The park have launched a ‘Keep our park sunny’ campaign; it is to be hoped that – for once – our councillors stand up to the developers and preserve this local gem.
